The Ars-Vivant System was designed by architect Robert Williams in the late 1990's to resolve problems associated with the large stationary desert tortoise experimental facilities (FISS) at Ft. Irwin, California. The design is a system of clustered pre-manufactured enclosures with the ability to expand or contract in response to changing experimental or breeding requirements. The system is modular, moveable, and re-useable. It uses appropriate technology to insure minimum environmental impact and maximum species protection. Mr. Williams will review the design criteria and the development of the system in a slide presentation.
